Brno woman with Covid-19 gives birth in coma

A woman from Brno gave birth to a healthy baby boy while in a coma due to a Covid-19 infection, the Czech News Agency reported on Friday. The baby was born at the end of October, about two months before the due date.

The woman was admitted to the hospital in her 30th week of pregnancy with severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19. She was connected to artificial lung ventilation, but when her vital signs started to fail, doctors decided to induce labour and give birth by caesarean section.

The baby and the mother, who was awoken from induced sleep after 11 days, have already been release into home care.
