BIS head warns of smear campaign against counterintelligence service

The head of the Czech counter intelligence service BIS, Michal Koudelka, has said there are indications a smear campaign is being prepared against the organization.

Koudelka told the news site  Denik N the activity of the counterintelligence service was a thorn in the side of certain groups active in the country.

In its annual reports, the BIS repeatedly draws attention to the activities of mainly Chinese and Russian agents in the Czech Republic.

The work of the service has been repeatedly criticized by President Miloš Zeman, who this week handed over to the prime minister documents that allegedly prove Michal Koudelka is a poor manager.
