Bird flu detected in Czech Republic month after last known case

Bird flu has been detected in the Czech Republic, a month after the last known case was registered. The 40th outbreak of 2021 has occurred near Jihlava and some 5,000 birds, mainly geese, will be put down, a spokesperson for the State Veterinary Authority, Petr Vorlíček, said on Thursday.

Mr. Vorlíček said that the latest incidence was a low pathogenic avian flu of the H5NI subtype, which may potentially be transmissible to humans.
